Drug Recalls
How PactRX Handles Drug Recalls
When the FDA or a manufacturer announces a recall, PactRX checks every active patient profile against the recalled lot or NDC within one business day. If you are affected, we will reach you through multiple channels so nothing is missed:
- Text message from your Care Guide's line.
- A phone call — a live Care Guide or an automated voice call if we cannot reach you in person.
- Email to the address on your account.
The initial message will let you know that a recall has come through on one of your medications and that your Care Guide will be in touch with specific instructions. We do not name the medication in the first outreach to protect your privacy.
What Happens Next
Your Care Guide follows up directly to explain which medication is affected, what the recall means (most recalls are precautionary and do not require you to stop taking your medication), and the next steps. Depending on the recall, we may:
- Confirm the medication you have is from a different lot and no action is needed.
- Ship you a replacement from unaffected stock at no charge.
- Coordinate with your prescriber if a different medication is clinically appropriate.
Most of our patients will have already finished the affected supply by the time a recall is announced — these are usually informational. If that is the case, we will still contact you so your records are up to date.
Reporting a Problem with a Medication
If you experience a side effect, quality issue, or other problem with a medication, call your Care Guide or report it to the FDA MedWatch program.
